Program Approach

People Living with HIV Model
The “UNISON” model, or “Multidisciplinary approach to treatment adherence among PLWH” model, for PLWH is a patient-centered approach conducted by a multidisciplinary team - doctor, nurse, psychologist, social worker, peer consultant, narcologist (if MAT is available in a target site), and working in coordination with a range of health-care sectors.  The team work is a complex of medical and psycho-social support services.  Families of PLWH are also brought into the team, where possible, for additional support and to build a stable home environment.  All members of the team sign an agreement expressing full commitment to participate in the program. The Unison model is based on the International HIV/AIDS Alliance’s work in Ukraine and tailored to the needs of PLWH in CAR.  Under the USAID Dialogue on HIV and TB Project, PLWH receive a comprehensive Targeted Outreach Package of Services (TOPS).
