USAID DIALOGUE ON HIV AND TB PROJECT
Achievements

Between March 1, 2010 and March 31, 2014, the USAID Dialogue on HIV and TB Project has achieved the following results:

  • 143,146 people in most-at-risk populations (MARPs) were reached with HIV prevention and TB control interventions;
  • 25,225 MARPs were tested for HIV using project referral vouchers;
  • 16,701 MARPs were tested for TB using project referral vouchers;
  • 2,351 individuals were trained to provide prevention interventions; and
  • 1,374 service providers were trained in stigma reduction, communication skills with MARPs, TB infection control, and the use of the project referral voucher system.

Highlights
A series of special events devoted to International Memorial Day of People Who Died from AIDS and International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking were conducted in countries where the USAID Dialogue on HIV and TB Project implements activities among HIV MARPs. The USAID Dialogue on HIV and TB Project hosted the events together with governmental, non-governmental and international partner organizations. Under these special events campaign the Project conducted information activities, sport events, scientific and practical conference, contests, and training sessions for key populations. Throughout the series of events and educational sessions, more than 2,000 people were reached with life-saving information on HIV transmission, prevention methods, as well as the importance of HIV testing and completing drug treatment in case of drug use.
 
Publications
Quantitative studies were conducted among injecting drug users, sex workers, and men who have sex with men in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan in order to examine their baseline behaviors related to HIV and TB transmission and treatment and the determinants of these behaviors.
